Rap. Show me the good stuff!

Well I'm always saying to people who complain, "rap isn't bad, you're just listening to the ty stuff." Whenever I'm asked for examples though I come up with a very pitiful amount. I know it's out there somewhere, I just haven't gone looking yet!

I got a couple of things on my list, but I've been meaning to make a thread here for awhile. I finally got around to it when Mogi said something xD

I like this kind of stuff:
    YouTube - MSX FM - Part 1 of 3 - GTA III -- I love this station!
YouTube - YOUR REALITYS A FANTASY BUT YOUR FANTASY IS KILLING ME - BOOM BOOM SATELLITES

Mogi is looking for more songs like this:
YouTube - "Empire State of Mind" Jay-Z | Alicia Keys [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Your help would be very much appreciated!

I know that the Star Wars video is a spoof of one of Jay-Z's songs. I like the song. I'd love some songs with some deep lyrics though - something that I can relate to!

EDIT: Wow, I guess I should've looked closer

I really REALLY love The Streets. I'll give you a few different songs by this rapper to give you a taste of his stuff.

I find him to be love or hate. If you like his accent, you're most likely gonna love it. If you don't, then I doubt you'll be able to listen to him.

YouTube - The Streets - Dry your eyes <--- Their most famous song
YouTube - the streets its too late <--- This is my favorite
YouTube - The Streets - Turn The Page <--- This another one that I'm a fan of.
YouTube - The Streets - Fit But You Know It <--- This one is fun and upbeat.

The rest of my rap and hip-hop tends to be asian (Teriyaki Boyz are fantastic, I recommend them too. Try HEARTBREAKER!) or very mainstream.

I don't know where the line is drawn between hip-hop and rap, or if there really is a difference. Honestly I thought that rap was an element of hip-hop, just like the saxophone is to jazz. But I digress!

Anyway, amidst that confusion, I don't know if some of these people count as "rap" or are just "R&B" but on my iPod I have some Lauryn Hill, OutKast, Kanye, The Roots, etc etc I'm too lazy to list all of them. I have an odd taste in music anyway.

Oh, I found this song today, and I really love it. It's a rap. One version is B.o.B (lol) with Hayley Williams singing the chorus, the other has Eminem in it as well. I love both.

YouTube - B.o.B - Airplanes Feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore [OFFICIAL AUDIO]
YouTube - B.o.B ft. Eminem & Hayley Williams - Airplanes Part 2 (With Lyrics).mp4 <--- The one with Eminem.

    You don't say.... music eh?

Do you want real hip-hop? Old School or new age? I'm a dj (on an undetermined break). I'm also a former musician. I played various jazz and classical. I also break danced.... so I got a lot of music lurking in my arsenal of music knowledge.
Here are some old school songs. Tell me if this is what your looking for:
LL Cool J - Mama said knock you out
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - The Creator
Busta Rhymes - Put your Hands where my Eyes can see

Like those I got plenty more, msg me!
Real Hip-Hop comes from anything from these artists:
    Dilated Peoples
    The Beatnuts
    The Alkoholics

I got more of this too....
If you want stuff from the 90's, again msg me I can go on for days!
Also I know some house too if your interested, and Funk.
    Hope this helps!

    Del tha Funkee Homosapien
    Deltron 3030
    Hieroglyphics
    Jedi Mind Tricks
    Aesop Rock
    Outkast
