Awake at 4:30am to watch the bloody Australia vs. Germany match. If the Formula One wasn't on right now, I probably wouldn't bother.

Anyway, I hope Australia can get up. But the media here's been quite realistic in saying that a draw would probably be a miracle in itself.

I do wonder why there hasn't been many goals so far - it's not like every team is playing cagey football. Some have talked about the ball, but people complain about the ball at every recent World Cup. Is it just a lot of poor attacking/finishing at the moment?

Well done to Ghana though, maybe my brave/stupid prediction that they would make the semis isn't so bad after all! Well OK it probably is.

I think it's the opening game syndrome. Rule of doing well in a World Cup: Don't lose your first game. And many nerves on the part of the players too.

But reckon there will be a few goals tonight. Neither defence is particularly good. And with Podolski, Klose & Schweinsteigger, I expect good things.
