Why are my characters blind!?

I decided to start playing this on the Nes for fun and found out something. My characters can't hit ! Except for the Black Belt, but it's still early game and he can barely do damage. So when he catches up and starts kicking ass is he gonna go blind too!? Seriously though, why do they miss so much, monsters too?

Did you fail to equip the weapons you bought?

Yea the weapons are equipped. The Black Belt has the highest accuracy and he's running around naked xD

Just wait until the end of the game when they are hitting multiple times in one swing

Usually by level three they shouldn't miss so much. You could level up before fighting Garland or be as far as Elfland by that level though.
