Default What is a similar game to FFIX (doesnt have to be FF)??

no game has ever came close to matching FFIX to me. FFX was the closest but it just wasnt the same....

    ive played 6,7,8,9,10, 12, and 13.

all you fellow FFIX lovers know what i mean. i want a game with the same romaticism and just plain magic and passion of FFIX

any game any system??? what game captures the magic like FFIX did???

yes, i ma a FFIX fanboy, but I can't help it, its just so charming and irresitable :)

Okay, no one ever seems to agree with me, so I'm anticipating that, but I thought that FFIV's and FFIX's plot were EXTREMELY SIMILIAR.

Two brothers, one bad, one good, a guy on the moon/moon-like world, displacing souls onto another world, yadda, yadda, yadda. There's more, but I've had this conversation so many times to no avail that I don't even want to look back into my old speculations, haha.

As for magic, well, I guess it has charm... I don't think IV had as much charm as FFIX.

I can't think of any non-FFs right now.

    >>> Yeah I know what you mean, its hard to find a game as awesome as FF9..
Play the Chrono games, Threads of Fate, maybe you should try the Suikoden games too..

    and dont forget, FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5..

Suikoden is always a great choice.

Start with III, it has one of the most sweeping narratives. It had me from the opening cinematic. Although the cutscenes within the game itself are far shorter.

Suikoden II is one of the best classic RPGs ever. On par with FFT, which is my favorite game period.

Also you might like Dragon Warrior VIII, it has a traditional feel of heroes, swords, castles, and magic. Plus a nice sweeping classical orchestral score.

ff12 has a lot of the same look and feel, although the plot and characters are way off

FFIX is a throw back to the feel of the first six, particularly 1, 3 and 5.

    So, play those!

    And IV

Well, the only non-FF game I can think of that is similar to IX is Tales of the Abyss. I suggest giving that one a try. In fact, give all the Tales games a try.

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"
