The Bravely Default Demo...
This game lets you turn off experience/job points/money gain and even lets you toggle the frequency of random encounters (or remove them entirely).
The initial difficulty of the demo is ridiculous, but once you get some levels and equipment and figure out the brave/default mechanics it becomes a lot more manageable and quite enjoyable.
I'll definitely be picking this game up.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Since I've been away and all I've had is my laptop, I've finally got a few PC games. The only PC games I've ever played were Deus Ex and the original Shogun: Total War (yeah it was that long ago).
A friend gave me Age of Empires 3 which is pretty good, and Civ V which I'm also enjoying. I also have Empire: Total War, but I don't think any Total War game can compare to the overwhelming nostalgia I have for Shogun.
Anyone got any recommendations of a decent PC game I can download from Steam? I have another month to kill and I'm open to suggestions.
I thoroughly enjoyed HR, I had it for the PS3.
I'd say turn based, strategy games are what I'm looking for at the moment. Normally I wouldn't have a problem helping myself to games, but PC gaming is something I haven't followed...ever, I only just got myself a Steam account! So I'd appreciate any suggestions you could give.
Check out Might & Magic Heroes/Heroes of Might & Magic games.
If you are looking for something a la Civ then Endless Space is pretty polished. As is Galactic Civilizations II. Both are similar to Civ, but in space! Fallen Enchantress is supposed to be very good although I haven't played it yet.
Alternatively, there's XCOM Enemy Unknown, which is more of a turn based tactics than a turn based strategy, but it's very good.
KOTOR II.
People always think they can take me and then... BAM! Right in the kisser.
Super Mario 3D World.
This game is so good. It makes me think back to the days of Mario 3 and Mario World with the excellent level design and the amount of creativity seen in the game. The soundtrack is pretty excellent too as opposed to the New Super Mario Bros games in which the music gets stale pretty quickly. I'm also working on playing through the Special stages in the original Mario World which is fun.
I'm also playing Sonic Lost World. I liked it when I first started playing it, but it pales in comparison to the Mario game. It's still fun for a modern Sonic game though.
Awesome, thanks for all the game tips guys. I'll look into them and see which ones take my fancy. I have to say that XCOM one seems great.
Flappy Bird. dear god why
