I pre-ordered Fire Emblem: Awakening, so I'll be playing that in about two weeks. As for now, I'm planning on beating BioShock on Hard with Vita-Chambers off for my final achievement in that game. I also played through Darksiders last week, along with regularly playing NBA 2K13, Forza Horizon, Happy Wars, and Gotham City Impostors. I'm probably not going to start up any time-intensive games until I return to college at the end of this weekend.
Mass Effect 2
(SPOILER)I just recruited a geth! Things are getting finally interesting.
Ni No Kuni now, and I am pleased thus far.
Finished Mass Effect 2, now on to the 3rd one!
I've been playing okami... and I come bearing bad news.
I've beaten this game roughly 500 times on both the Wii and the PS2 as a kid, and I hadn't picked it up in years.
So I did, and this is my verdict.
The combat is AMAZING as expected, very fast, fluid, while still offering a lot of time for creativity and style to be thrown into the mix. Getting demon fangs is always a nice challenge past orochi, since you need to find the right trick for each monster, and some arent so easy to pull off.
The artstyle is well... it's okami, jesus man. It's gorgeous, moving on.
Issun.
Issun....
Good God Issun.
I hate this freaking bug. I hate him. I want to feed him to ninetails or orochi. He's the WORST videogame sidekick in any game I've ever played.
He never shuts up,he NEVER SHUTS UP. He repeats what just happened two minutes ago in the story as if we need the reminder, he makes the same jokes a million times in a row until each successive joke makes you want to give yourself a lobotomy. He never lets you solve any puzzles for yourself, as he is quite keen to interrupt you constantly to give you the answer. Never tips, just answers. I actually think Issun has more lines than the rest of the characters ingame combined.
Yeah, and people say Navi is bad. They don't know true pain. At least navi LETS you ignore her tips. Issun shoves them right in your face, with unskippable textboxes.
Overall, this game would be PERFECT without issun. The characters are really colorful, the stories solid, the environments varied, the combats fun. Everything is amazing. I just.... god dammit issun...
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Endless Swan
My only complaint is that there just wasn't enough of it.
Alright I'm trying Oblivion again.
The speechcraft minigame is amazing and I ran around the Imperial City for like two hours getting everyone's disposition with me to max just so I had an excuse to play it.
Very well said. I believe Okami would be a perfect game if it would use visuals only. It would even fit the theme perfectly, as you'd be a wolf who doesn't understand man-language.
So dump the excessive library of redundant text, get rid of Issun and boom, perfect game.
Edit: making you fight every boss again at the end is pretty freaking trout too. It's just filler.
Edit 2: Just running around is the greatest thing about Okami. Just run, white wolf, run!
Edit 3: Ok, now I'm getting myself pissed about how developers sometimes just don't realize what makes their game fun. RantRunning around is great. Combat is great. Making miracles happen is great. The painting mechanic is great. But how great would it be to make these miracles happen without a 5 minute prelude of how and why these should happen? The talking is what's not fun about Okami. It enslaves you. People ask, you make it happen. That's not being a god, that's being a boy who runs errands. As a wolf god I want to observe and find solutions myself because my miracles are happenings that are not explainable by humans. The whole game would be one big secret finding/mystery solving puzzle. Why didn't you get this, Clover, WHY?

Completely agreed pete
Hell, considering how much of this game is based on legend of Zelda mechanics a silent protagonist would fit in perfectly.
Whats funny is, with issun gone, the ingame scrolls and tips the game gives you would be all the more clever
Besides, all of the jokes in okami about the babes ammy makes perfectly fine as a silent wolf than issun makes with text. Hell, ammys reactions are always way more amusing.
I do wish a lot of the miracles castes felt leas like errands and more like divine intervention like its meant to feel
Its such a damn shame
Oh well, ill stil put 60+ hours into this playthrough anyways
Ng+ lets you skip all the text thankfully
Speechcraft was hilarious. Maybe it's why I didn't get into Skyrim? I remember playing it intoxicated once and just really thought about the mechanism behind it and just cracked up. It was fun to be able to manipulate people into liking you.
Speaking of manipulating people, New Vegas. I updated Steam yesterday and it ran like crap and it made me so sad. I'm trying to kill the Van Graffs for the Brotherhood, which is hard enough without the game lagging like a mofo.
BTW, the Van Graffs are tough as hell.
