I started Bioshock 2 yesterday. I bought it in a Steam sale some time back and had it downloaded but this was the first that I had launched it. This was the process:
- Launch game. Enter CD key.
- Game authenticates.
- Game opens.
- Press 'Single Player'
- Please sign in to Games for Windows Live! (trout trout trout)
- Remember my username and password, sign in.
- Downloading Profile... 5%... 10%...
- There is an update for Games for Windows Live! If you don't install it you can't save trout. INSTALL.
- Download update.
- Please exit the game!
- Exit game. Update installer runs. Finishes without confirmation.
- Re-launch Bioshock 2.
- Single Player. Sign in. (ofc it can't auto-sign me in even though I CHECKED THE OPTION TO DO THAT)
- Downloading Profile... 5%... 10%...
- There is an update for Bioshock 2 through Games for Windows Live! Install or your life is worthless.
- Download update.
- Please exit the game!
- Exit game. Update installer runs. Also finishes without confirmation.
- Re-launch Bioshock 2.
- Single Player. Sign in.
- Downloading Profile... 50%... 100%
- We have a new terms of service! Please accept.
- Click accept. (does nothing)
- Click accept. (nothing)
- Click accept.
- Game minimizes. "Games for Windows Live Client has stopped working."
- Maximize game. I get a sign-in error. GFWL tells me I'm signed in anyways.
- Log out.
- Log back in.
- Game minimizes. "Games for Windows Live Client has stopped working."
- Maximize again. Same error. Still says I'm signed in.
- smurfing play Bioshock.


GFWL is seriously the worst service on PC. But on the plus side, I found out that I really miss Rapture, and I super enjoy taking it in from a Big Daddy's perspective. But god damn GFWL.
