Thread: most valued sense

I heard somewhere that deaf people feel lonelier than blind people.

Anyway, I'd like to say that I would rather be deaf than blind, but when I actually think about it and try to justify my reasoning, I think I'd rather be blind. I love music too much and listening to people's voice and etc

In my General Studies paper it asked me to name all the senses. Can you believe I got it WRONG?! I completely forgot 'Taste' and I put 'Imagination'.

hahahahah. I'm not surprised I got an E, oops!

So obviously, 'taste' is not high on my priorities.

Losing the sense of touch is actually not as amazing as it sounds. I saw a documentary once about a few people who do not feel physical contact, pain, etc. so they would do all sorts of stupid stuff like stick things in their eye. Most of them ended up blind.

From most important to least important: Sight, sound, touch, taste, smell.

Oh wait, my sense of logic above all, of course.

Sense of touch and sense of taste is very important to us if we are gonna do that feat in that picture.

I heard that there is a seventh and a half sense that detects HATE. You NEED that to live or Baboons will constantly try to tear you limb from limb in an attempt to restore that sense.

But honestly all our sense are valuable. I couldn't imagine life without anyone of my five senses. But if I had to choose one to live without it would probably be smell because I would never have to smell a fart, garbage or any other bad smell ever again. Then again, I would never smell my favourite foods or a girls purfume and I will never be able to smell a gas leak.

Edit: It's really wierd but while I was writing this I was listening to a Stevie Wonder song (Isn't she lovely) and the guy who made the video said that in 1970 Stevie had a car crash which damaged his brain, which ultimately made him lose his smell and taste. I researched and aparrently Stevie temporarily lost his sense of taste and had (and still does) a partial loss of smell. So for one point in time Stevie only had 2 1/2 senses. I find that really amazing and it makes me think I take all my senses for granted. If he can live like that, then I, and everyone else, should be thankful for each and everyday that I have all five of my senses.

When we dance, it looks just like Fire.

When we sing, it sounds the same tone.

I would say sense of humour is most important to me, but I already lost that in 'Nam. I'd be pretty miserable without either of my senses, but I suppose I'll say sight like everybody else.

The last time we had a thread like this, I went on a long rant about how losing your sense of smell would end up in you losing your sense of taste as well, since those senses kind of go hand in hand... so

    1. Sight
    2. Hearing (tie)
    2. Touch (tie)
    4. Smell
    5. Taste

    Also balance is really useful.

Hearing is probably the most important to me, then sight, touch, taste and smell; though sight comes very close to being just as important as hearing out of those senses.
