Splice

I saw this at a movie theatre last night for free. A friend of a friend worked at the theatre, so we all traipsed in with free passes, going "La la la", oh, Splice, it's probably like a B monster movie, cool, man.

I need to start researching movies before I see them or something. This was not a B monster movie; it felt like three hours of intense family drama with every psychological complex known to man crammed into the characters.

Has anyone else seen this? I found it just so demented, and I left the movie theatre feeling bothered as hell. The movie was clearly supposed to make me feel uncomfortable. And it did. So I need like a therapy session or something, haha, with someone else who has seen it.

I've read about it and seen pictures. It looks interesting, so I might watch it if I get the chance. I like Sarah Polley.

I'm definitely uninterested since seeing the trailer.. Judging a book by its cover, yes... but I just can't bring myself to go to this.

I seriously read the funniest review/synopsis on Splice, but I'm not sure I can link it from here. There is a LOT of cursing going on in that review.

I've already been completely spoiled and the movie sounds seriously awful, and I want to know wtf Adrien Brody was thinking!

If anyone else wants to be spoiled:

(SPOILER)Two married scientists create a human/animal hybrid as an experiment and they start raising this creature as their "daughter" but she grows up super duper fast, has a poisonous tail, develops wings, etc. The lady scientist is really attached to the creature and puts makeup on her and tells her she loves her and Adrien Brody wants to kill her cause she's an abomination, but then grows to care for her too. She seduces Adrien Brody and they have sex, and his wife walks in on them and is all WTF? And he's all, I DUNNO I GOT CONFUSED. Afterwards she morphs into a male creature and kills Adrien Brody and proceeds to rape her "mother". And she says her first words which are "INSIIIIDE YOUUU!" as she rapes her mom. They manage to kill her but at the end of the movie the scientist lady finds out she's become pregnant after her rape and decides to keep the baby in the name of science. O_O

That sounds so bad that it could be awesome.

During that "inside you" line, I started laughing so hard I had to cover my face and put my head between my knees. And I was laughing because I was so horrified at the concept that it was a coping mechanism. It was either that or cry with discomfort.
