That and looking at the trailer, it would be easy to confuse the game with any generic FPS that's come out recently.
Completely agree. I expect this game to do decent based on a wave of nostalgia, but I wouldn't dare think it will be close to good. Hell, unless I'm dicking around doing Slap fights or Knife fights with friends the original games does not hold up at all for me.

Anyhoo, I only looked some at Sony's presentaion and read the highlights, and I feel like Bolivar did for Nintendo's. Everyone is saying the GT5 release date is a massive bomb to drop or something, but my first thought was "Finally". I've never been big in GT so it's not a big deal to me, I just remember this game being announced/talked about for quite some time now (wasn't there a robust paid demo a few years back?) Twisted Metal was cool, but I haven't played those games in so long it would take some bugging to get me to try it again. Never played the Sly Cooper games, so the collection would be good if I didn't have so many new games to play. LBP2 makes me happy, as long as they really tighten up the dang controls. Other than that, I was just kinda meh. I can admit that a ton of people find these things to be massive though, and if so many do Sony's doing something right, so kudos to them.

Also, why does someone have to "win" E3? I guess because since we play games a lot we just have that mindset, plus we wanna see justify our purchase more?
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

I never liked the original Golden Eye. It was good for a console shooter, but that is not saying alot. Poor controls were the biggest problem for me.

If they want me to get a remake, they'd better have Sean Bean as Janus doing narration the entire game.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

I can't think of anything myself in particular as I'm not one of the best creators out there, but all they showed us was some stuff we already found out was possible through articles that were released before the show. I also heard it is supposedly easier to create cinematics and other complicated logic now. Didn't see any proof of that.
Actually I do, and you're right, that was very crazy at the time. I guess I'm the opposite of your reactions - I was underwhelmed by the trailers and screen shots because it looked like the same LBP just objects stuck to the wall to make it look overhead when it really wasn't. So seeing yesterday that it can really be done, especially seeing the RTS game briefly, really got me excited for it. Plus that rocket game on a small level showed that this can really be a multiplayer beast, with tons of people cranking out little games you can hop in with friends and play for hours at a time.

This year was a bit more interesting than I thought it would be. I usually only pay attention if my third party companies are showing anything interesting but most of them weren't showcasing anything really new.

So it comes down to the big three.

Microsoft - Outside of Kinect and Metal Gear Rising, not a whole lot. Most of it seemed like they were announcing new services for X-Box Live. Kinect looks very interesting and I can see Sony and Nintendo both be "inspired" to add voice recognition into future motion control products. Not much to get excited for since I don't own the system and could care less about Gears of War and Halo Reach.

Sony - I just need to finally accept the fact that Sony no longer actively supports games I give a damn about. Unless you like FPS and racing games, there was nothing at Sony's press conference that caught my interest in terms of games. LBP2 wasn't as impressive as LBP1 and I kinda get a Rock Band 2 vibe from all this cause LBP1 has only been out for 18 months and already a sequel is being announced, it just feels a bit too soon for me. Since I'm not in love with Valve, I don't care about the PS3 now supporting Steam either.

I think the biggest reveal was Move, whgich definetly dropped the gauntlet down for motion controls in gaming. I was really hoping Sony and Microsoft would have strong showings for the technology and I must commend both for not disappointing. Sorcery looked silly but the demonstration of the technology was flawless so I have high hopes for future titles by Sony.

Nintendo - I do feel that Nintendo really had the best show of the three companies. The new Zelda title looks interesting and the cel shading makes it feel like the offspring of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I'm happy to hear all the game design improvements and the fact that the game is suppose to have 1:1 motion like Sony was showing with Move.

I wish the rest of Nintendo's lineup was as exhilarating. A new Kid Icarus game was only half a surprise. I don't really care about Donkey Kong Country sequel or GoldenEye sequel seeing as how I was never impressed with either games back in the day. The 3DS was the other showstopper for me. I'm still skeptical about 3D gaming but appreciate the technology. I personally have issues with 3D cause it gives me bad headaches... The promised lineup for the 3DS is incredibly promising but Nintendo knows how to do handhelds. I like the new design though I'm annoyed about the nub on the 3DS seeing as how I hate the one on the PSP and I would have preferred for Nintendo just to make a better and more responsive D-Pad.

Still, overall, I felt it was a promising E3 if only for giving gamers a glimpse of future hardware and appeasing some people who are not me with software.

Maybe in the press conference LBP2 wasn't that impressive. But I've read the previews about it and it is utterly epic. It basically ends up being a complete game creator. Guys can make racing levels, space invader levels, shoot-em-up levels, basically everything. It really has taken the original LBP idea and shot it to the next level.

Well you could actually do all that in LBP1, you just had to find a way to fight the game's mechanics and it might involve some glitch use. It's supposedly easier now to do that stuff. I really want to see how you can make a RPG out of this like the developers said. I hope they don't mean like the FF turned based battle stuff I already seen used in LBP1 and it didn't even work great then.

    I think that's an understatement.

Yeah, the Hot Pursuit showing excited me. I convulsed a little at the sight of a Veyron PIT-ing a Zonda. I want this game bad. More than GT5.

And speaking of creepy games, F.E.A.R 3 (or F.3.A.R if you want to call it that) also looked pretty good with their hints toward co-op play. Was it Point Man and Paxton Fettel they showed? I haven't played F.E.A.R in a long time and I haven't played 2.

Yes, co-op will be with the two brothers, who have an "uneasy alliance". While Pointman has the regular shooter-role of a soldier, Fettel utilizes his supernatural powers to do things like possess soldiers, rip them apart, and create all kinds of paranormal chaos. It's supposed to be really dynamic, and any kind of scenario could really generate from this (assuming) new take on co-op.

    Supposed to be insane.

I thought Fettel was dead? Am I mistaken or do the two non-canonical expansions revive him (haven't played them)?

Oh, he's dead. Now he's using that to his advantage

    Well, that's just awesome =]

I wonder how Alma's going to come into the picture.. and if Beckett plays a role in the game. Perhaps as a new antagonist? I'm going to have to get F.E.A.R 2 now.

It's strange that an FPS of all things has interested me most out of E3. I normally hate the genre.
