The "ha-ha-ha" is me laughing at my TV when I've beaten the game. Just so you know
Anyway, I'm currently level 55/56 and the next step is, well, Bahamut and all the last boss battles. What level should I be in before going up against Vayne and his crew?
That should be plenty fine. I think I beat the game quite easily at that level. Just give yourself some time. Last battle lasts quite a while.
I'm always overlevelled cause i indulge in all the sidequests. But the guide recommends level 47 so you should be fine

47 is probably perfect. You could go in at lower levels most likely. I just did a major level up because I got lost in the dungeon and kept fighting toooooo many enemies. Although I think I was level 30 or something initially haha.
Well, I just completed the game at level 55/56. It was surprisingly easy.
