I've got FFVII on a memory stick, because my friend transferred it from the PS3..But I left him to it and had no idea what he was doing.

It's fairly straight forward, and you can't break it. If anything goes wrong or you make a mistake then you can just restore it to the previous firmware and it's like it never happened!
You can find instructions anywhere on google or plenty of Youtube tutorials.
