Nope, thanks to American money and crafts. I still have not heard you admit Germany would have owned you if it was not for the Channel, Yanks & Russians.

DID YOU KNOW? There were more troops from the British Empire involved in D-Day than American ones! (thanks Canada, you guys rule)

Oh and as far as the naval side goes, the Royal Navy led that and the majority of the ships and sailors were British. Feel free to look up "Operation Neptune" if you'd like to know more.

The Royal Navy was the biggest navy in the world at that time. However, if the channel was not there, it would not have mattered. Germany's navy was miniscule due to the Treaty of Versaille's restrictions.

But as far as landing craft and motherships FOR landinmg craft, they all had to be made during the war. They did not really exist before then due to their specialist role. These were mostly paid for by US dollars as Britain, was broke.
