The End's beard was much more badass than Snake's. I'll go with that.

Mitsurugi had a good scraggly beard if you look at his ronin style outfits.
Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins had a bad as vagrant beard.
Really you shouldn't base your beard on gaming characters, take a look at different beards in real life photos and more importantly look at how your stubble grows on your own face in a mirror. A "short" beard should be trimmed to highlight and strengthen your jaw line not subdue it or mask it because if you do that then it'll make your face look fatter rather than more defined.
Goddamn right.
Wario would have a pretty sweet beard, that is if he had a beard. Here's what I'm talking about.
