To Zanarkand - FFX
lol all the sudden i see im totaly off topic haha
I'd say my favourite videogame soundtracks would be:
- Vagrant Story
- Final Fantasy XII
- Final Fantasy IX
- Final Fantasy Tactics
There's many more, but overall the music from those games is what I listen to the most if I'm in the mood for some RPG music!
Does it have to be from FF?
in that case:

If not than also:
YouTube - Resident Evil 5 OST - Majini Battle 9 (Fire Zone)
i just love it somehow and since i used it in a film even more
i even put it on my ipod on accident :o but i dnt feel like taking it off xD
Off the top of my head:
Final Fantasy (NES and iPod versions)
Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2 (Genesis)
Sonic & Knuckles
Phantasy Star
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star IIIenerations of Doom
Mega Man 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7
Strider
Final Fight
Mega Man X
Mega Man X4
Sonic Heroes
Art of Fighting
Bionic Commando (NES)
Lifeforce/Salamander
Glad Sonic got a mention
Pretty much repeating here, but:
Final Fantasy (VI-X)
Sonic the Hedgehog (1-3&K)
Kingdom Hearts
Shadow of the Colossus
Also have to throw in:
Metal Gear Solid (1-3)
God of War (1-3)
Also, I feel that burnout takedown deserves a mention, it's soundtrack is smurfing fantastic.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I've turned out to be a huge fan of Jack Wall, so: Myst III + IV, Mass Effect 1 + 2 (Stand by for addition of ME3. )
Highly notable others:
Xenosaga I + III (It's not improbable I added XS3 because of the contrast to XS2 - Yuki Kajiura showed with all the certainty you could ask for that she can do more than generic anime J-pop, which warmed my heart TREMENDOUSLY. Especially considering how dreadful the non-cutscene music in XS2 was...)
The Witcher 1 + 2
Riven
Total Annihilation
Dark Reign: Rise of the Shadowhand (Yes, the EXPANSION - not so much the main game, though that certainly didn't suck either.)
(No FF-title on this list for the simple reason that there's SO MUCH music in each soundtrack, and always a good deal I don't really care for. I'm judging the total impression here, not single tracks; otherwise, FFVI's and VIII's end credits would be on the list. Alas for Esthar and the Auction House.)

Vagrant Story - Wyvern, Ifrit and Dullahan are the best.
Heroes of Might and Magic series - Perfect
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - It has unique tracks that suit the environment well.

Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX in my opinion.
Chrono Cross OST - Time's Scar - YouTube
Chrono Cross OST - Star-Stealing Girl - YouTube
FF's beat: FFI, FFVII, FFIX, FFX
Favorite FF: FFIX
Currently Playing: FFX-2
Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger have incredible soundtracks too.
From Chrono Cross I love the Garden of God
From Chrono Trigger the music that plays in 2300 A.D. on the world map.
Final Fantasy 6 has some good ones too.
Final Fantasy 8 - The Salt Flats and The Extreme
Aion has really great soundtracks.
There are so many soundtracks that are my favourites, can't even name them all.
Now THIS is a nice piece of nostalgia!!

Tomb raider 3
I'm surprised that there's no mention of Castlevania: SOTN...
Castlevania SOTN - Lost Painting
Castlevania SOTN - The Tragic Prince
I'm actually going to go the arcade route here. I love lots of different video game soundtracks, but two that I think are really good for their time are Darius and Truxton II. Unfortunately, the majority of Darius music was removed from Youtube, but here's an example of something from Truxton II:
Truxton II - Stage 5 'Still Love You'
Call of Duty 3 (black ops) dynamite sound !
