Logitech's 510 series has been pretty darn good ever since it came out. Very very solid mouse.

Haven't used the Sidewinder but I've heard generally good things about it. From a pure DPI standpoint, the Sidewinder does have a higher sensitivity.

I'm kind of in the market for a new mouse too, after my Habu died.

The sidewinder imho is the best mouse on the market however I haven't got one myself. I only really play games I can use a normal cheap mouse for, in fact I have a £5 mouse atm.

What a coincidence, I just replaced my Habu today. Got a Razer Death Adder to replace it. Pretty much the exact same mouse except without the ability to change the DPI on the fly. It feels pretty much the same as my old one anyway though so it feels great to me.

As to the OP's to options, if it were me I'd go with the Microsoft but I'm not very familiar with Logitech's stuff.

I have a Death Adder and I enjoy it immensely. It took a little bit to get used to because it's more awkwardly shaped than my last mouse, which I had for about six years prior to replacement, but now I do not even notice the changes and it is a definite improvement.

I'm between their newish Imperator and the portable Orochi. They both cost the same and the Imperator is clearly superior all around, but I am a laptop gamer. The Orochi also has two more buttons than the other one does. Decisions, decisions.

Logitech has a good run of mice too. The G5 and G9 series are their dedicated Gaming brand, but they have some great mice all around. I've owned the VX and MX revolution mice (among others) and only really wanted a 'gaming' one so I could adjust my DPI.
