FFXIV Frontsite Thread

This thread is all about discussion of our FFXIV frontsite section, whether it be improving the current sections, suggesting sections, and/or (perhaps most importantly) writing up content for the frontsite. Here are the current sections up in the frontsite at the moment:

Final Fantasy XIV

I plan on doing the story section, we need to come up with other sections that will be necessary, now and as it becomes more apparent.

I was thinking putting a more complete version of the FAQ on the frontsite, considering a FFMMO brings a whole bunch of unusual questions up that can't be covered in a simple section (like, "What's the Subscription cost?" or "What's the min. specs?"), plus I felt that we could put at the end of the section something like, "If any of your questions haven't been answered by this FAQ, please feel free to ask them in our FFXIV Section!".

Also I feel that "Linkshell" should be renamed when we decide on the name (for now, we'll just go with the Fat Chocbos) to "The Fat Chocobos - Official EoFF Linkshell".

I'd suggest that you don't try to keep too much detailed data for FFXIV. You're not going to be able to keep up.

It's been pretty unanimous that we will not be able to be a database (which explains a lack of Weapons, Items, Armor sections). General Info is needed (thus Races, Story), along with some forum integration, and unique ideas.

Well, it's not like "We're already too late" it's more like "We don't have nearly the manpower". Continuing we should discuss what we can do, and not what should've been. =P

Some basic info with pretty pictures is really all we need. Just to show we care. I agree that trying to keep up with wiki sites would be futile.

I was never suggesting you should try to keep a whole database of everything. That would be a foolish endeavor. I was just confirming that you all were aware of it.

I vote classes and races aren't done because there aren't any pretty pictures. There's also been more classes announced that you can check here.

I think, at the very least, there should be a list of the known weapon skills. Because your class now depends on your weapon you use and not the other way around, choosing not to list the weapon skills for a fighter could be compared to not listing the spells for a magic user. There was a leaked list of spells and weapon skills from the Alpha, but since that info is probably obsolete, it may be worth it to keep an eye out for info during the beta test that's starting July 10th.

Also, maybe I'm just behind on the information, but when did we find out that the Gladiator can use two-handed swords? The official site says that they're just masters of all one-handed blades. o.o

Went and fixed all the meta tags and put text into the Story section, so that is now done. If someone could get me some pictures of the races, I can try and see how we can code those into the Races page.

update on the races page. I have made two samples for an updated layout on each races table. I can make adjustments to either one as needed. (I know they both will need some work) but they both have their charm and I can't decide on which one to use. Also any suggestions are welcome.
