Emperor Mateus destroyed and took over most of the world(AND Heaven and Hell), the CoD flooded the world, Ex-Death took over the second world IIRC(in the past, before the story of the game started), it's implied that Ultimecia took over the world in her time, Kuja destroyed a world, and Yu-Yevon/Sin practically took over the world(with help of Yunalesca).
