My favorite character is KING BRADLEY the swordsman/Fuhrer!
Other than that is Envy from the 2003 anime! He sux pretty hard in the manga and the 2009 anime though.

Al is and always will be my favorite.
Full Metal Alchemist is one of the few animes I like. Except that Brotherhood thing they did with it. That smurfing SUCKED. I watched an episode and it was so bad it almost ruined the original for me. It was so cutesy and just CRAP. I liked FMA because of how dark the series became after the introductory episodes.
My favorite character is Maes Hughes. Him and his little girl! (SPOILER)And I was devastated when he died.I liked a lot of the State Alchemists in general.

No, it wasn't.
Brotherhood is a much more faithful adaptation of the manga, because the series was not completed when the first anime was produced. Hence you have characters that only appear in the first anime such as Dante, as well as a Sloth, Wrath and Pride. Hiromu Arakawa is a very good storyteller as well as artist, and I won't spoil anything about major plot points but it is really good.
