    Greenie Piggy bank

Guess how many coin change I had saved up in this little piggy bank after a few months of saving, before I cashed in my change earlier at the penny arcade?

    $24! I was really happy.

What is your biggest amount you've ever saved in change in a piggy bank/money jar?

we used to keep a Date Jar (plastic baggie) that had ~10-20 in it at any given time.

When I stopped buying vending machine food at school last year, I quickly accumulated $14 in quarters and other assorted change.

I've saved like $400 dollars in change over the last 5-6 years. I am not kidding. I had to start rolling the coins in paper to save space. It all just sits on my desk in a little wooden box I built in my first year of high school.

Hey Mo... you seem like a wonderful person. We should really hang out sometime. Get some drinks. You know.

The most I've saved up is 6.20

My mom and step-dad have saved up over $1,000 in change in the past 10 or so years. They have spent some (maybe even most) of that on vacations, so it wasn't all at once.

The most I've saved up is $20-something.

I once managed to save up to $60 in my little coin bank I had made back in middle school. It was mostly quarters and dimes. If it's mostly pennies, it'd hold $20.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

    Monetary densities (US):

    Pennies: 0.004 $/gram
    Nickels: 0.010 $/gram
    Dimes: 0.044 $/gram
    Quarters: 0.044 $/gram
    Half Dollars: 0.044 $/gram
    Dollars: 0.123 $/gram (susan b. anthony)
    0.044 $/gram (eisenhower)
    0.123 $/gram (sacagawea)

I wasn't sure if pennies or nickels were the worst, but it's nice to see that our lovely ladies are the most efficient.

It is actually most cost effective to not have pennies, I read somewhere. Can you imagine it? =O

The most I've had in change was about $50 after using a Coinstar machine.

When I took some to my bank, they were like 'ehh, just leave them unrolled next time' and didn't charge a fee like the sorting machines at the grocery stores do!

Yes, I've heard that a lot as well. I wonder how complicated it would be to completely revalue our currency. We're not held to a gold standard anymore, so the worth of the metal becomes irrelevant.

Basically, I either want the ability to use pennies in vending machines or GTFO.

A few months ago, I started to take a couple of rolls every week or so to the bank to deposit. That was really just to make room in the box for more change though. I never really intended to accumulate that much, it just turned out that way. I'm in the habit of coming home and straight-away putting all my change into my piggy banks and boxes. I will do the lot someday, but for now, it's just fun to see how that much change actually looks like.

This seems sincere and well-meaning. Let's do it.

I once had £150 in small change in a jar and that was after having paid like 14% for it to get changed up
