Thread: Final Fantasy XIII: Sequel?

    Default Final Fantasy XIII: Sequel?

What do you think, will SE(Square Enix) be creating another sequel for FFXIII?

And where console do you want SE should release it?

For me I think they'll be creating a sequel. And I think they will release it in PSP.

It bugs the hell out of me putting sequels on consoles other than those of direct evolution (i.e. ps2 game sequel on PS3) because not all gamers are made of money. (admittedly I have a DSi but that's kinda the wrong style for XIII) If they did make a sequel I'd want it on PS3 and either about vanille and fangs first focus or say 100 years ish after the end of the game, see how humans are getting on and all. (SPOILER)Could start with fang and vanille coming out of crystal stasis and cocoon falling finally. That'd be pretty visually spectacular.

Admittedly I'm in no rush for a sequal, see what happens with Verses.

Are you asking about a direct sequel to XIII's storyline? I thought I read somewhere that the XIII compilation would all be connected somehow. I'm too lazy to look it up though as I don't really care that much.

I haven't beaten XIII yet but a direct sequel does not seem likely. I wouldn't mind it, provided nothing has been messed with, but it seems to me that if they finish their Focus or not the game will pretty much be over. I'd hate to see that storyline finish only for a new, tier, one to take its place (like how Vegnagun took Sin's place).

Actually for me, the ending of FFXIII was nothing, they just finished there focus and that's it. Maybe not exactly only to fulfill they focus, but still the ending is not so good. I'm not also in a hurry when it comes to a sequel or spin-off.

    >>> Most of the game was pain to play so Squarenix really need to redeem their sins and finally make a good game/sequel. If there is a sequel I hope they make the whole game an open world like Gran Pulse (it was the only great thing about FF13).
Yeah, just make it like Gran Pulse but in a bigger scale..

I'd rather not bother, XIII didn't do much to make me like the world and its wacky fantasy/sci-fi hijinxs so I don't see the point of trying to do it again.

I just don't see any interesting plot elements that could go in its world without making it a prequels or sequels set a 1000 years away from the main game. Even then, I feel it would suffer a bit of most SE sequels and feel like a minor re-telling of the original game. I say we just leave this one behind.

Urgh I'd have to quit the series if they did that all of the time. I like linearity. Maybe because I play for the stories. I like the openness in titles like FFXII, but I don't think I'd bother if every game in the series were like that. I didn't like FFXII very much the first time around because the openness made the pacing of the story terrible and it took me a second and third playthrough to love it like I do now.

I think every good game should have an equilibrium between storytelling and gameplay.

If it has too much storyline it is cinematographic.

If it has too much gameplay it becomes unpersonal.

    Mayor Dobe:What hours is it?
    Flo: 15:30
Mayor Dobe:Hey do you wanna to send the Estharians to Centra or what?
    Flo:Ok,let it be on 3:45

I read an interview with one of the higher ups on the game's staff that there was so much more they wanted to develope with the Crystal engine or whatever the game's engine was called, and that they wanted to use it again. As I understand it, a direct sequel is something they've thought about or considered, but there's no actual plans of making one yet.

I reckon Square would rather like to cement their reputation as creators of needless prequels/sequels and make Final Fantasy XIII: The Present. It will follow Sereh as she deliberates what she should buy Lightning for her birthday present.

But all will not be as it seems, as strange people related to the main villain but not ever mentioned in the original XIII will now make their initial appearances, becoming vital to the original story.
