I should qualify that I have absolutely no problem using the most vulgar, offensive words (along with jokes, phrases, physical expressions, etc.) casually among friends. Like Shlup said, these things are bad when they're used in a derogatory fashion. But they're fine when used light-heartedly around friends whom you know will not take offense. It's all about context, really. And that's something most people seem to miss (especially the "if they can say it, so can I" crowd).
