Please don't condemn me... my first FF was FFIX. Alot of people criticize it for many different reasons, but I somehow felt like I could relate to the story and its message. We all have a home to return to and that in darkest of hours we have people who are close to us and will stand by our sides through the hard times and never give up on us.
Who cares if every character had a preset list of abilities to learn? They all had specific job classes: Zidane=Thief, Vivi=Black Mage, Garnet=Summoner, Steiner=Knight, Quina=Blue Mage, Freya=Dragoon, Eiko=White Mage and Amarant=Monk.
As far as I'm concerned, FFIX is a kind of sequel of the orginal FF. Just look at the storyline and what goes on and you'll agree.
If you don't, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion.
