Default Landmass Query of Ridorana as well scale size of Invalice

First off can any one come up with possible solution of how Ridorana Cataract can exist geographically in relation to the planet. If its just whole in the sea...Wouldn't it be filled up after sometime... Where does the sea water flow..Unless the place where FFXII is located is actually on a higher elevation therefore the size of the planet would actually be larger to accommodate this kind of anomaly.

Here's an excerpt from the Sage's Knowledge

"A strange opening in the seafloor that has created an endless whirlpool, drawing the surrounding sea ever downwards. An island is situated at the cataract's edge, on which stands a great pharos surrounded by ancient ruins. Its size suggests that once a great city flourished here, but of its rise and fall nothing is known. The area surrounding the island is jagd, preventing approach by airship, while the proximity of the cataract and its tidal pull make it impossible to reach the island by sea."

Also in relation to the map and travelling between places of Ivalices....How many days would it actually take to travel between certain points...

There's also floating islands in this world. I think it's safe to say that the rules of physics and geography of our world don't apply.

Well floating island can be explained via porous rocks where magicite acts magnetic opposite to the earths poles, hence floating island..

Someone still help come up with a logical solution to the Pharos.

But Pharos looks cool! Pretty sure this is one of the video game laws where if it looks cool, one must put it in the game with little to no explanation.

Maybe in their universe, the world isn't round.

No that wouldn't explain anything. The magnetic poles of a planet are not located IN THE PLANET.

If you brought a really, really, really big south-aligned magnet to the northern pole of the earth, it will NOT shoot into the sky.

Well the crystals act as a gravity inverse so it'll float! XD

Point is about the Pharos Landmass!!

Point is trying to find logical explanations grounded in earth physics is a useless endeavor since the existence of magick alone implies a world where the laws of physics break down.

What if the planet of Ivalice is actually three time the size of our planet...It could help explain and accommodate the anomalies seen in the game...

But then you run into travel time problems again.

No particularly...Ivalice can only be a 'small' subsection of a much larger continent

I think it's made pretty clear that the section of Ivalice you explore isn't the whole world.

I choose to explain the whole thing by Rule of Cool. See here.

    Yeah, TvTropes sucks that way.
