Default Do I have to pay to chat on Live Messenger (MSN) now?

I am finally upgrading it, but the terms of service says things like "If you pay us" (us = Microsoft), does that mean I will be paying them if I upgrade? Or is that for something else. In short, is MSN still free chat?

Please, I can't understand the terms at that point. I don't want to sign up to something that I have to pay for - I am no good at paying subscriptions online, that's why I never do that...

I'm pretty sure you don't. I haven't logged on in a couple of weeks or so, but I've never ever had to pay. What you read could be referring to some extra features you can pay for if you want.

No, you don't have to pay when you upgrade.

They run a Skype type service and text messaging service that you do have to pay for if you use them, I believe the terms your pointing out are to do with those.
