I became a recruit in each of the grand companies and just happened to do the Limsa Lominsa on first but stopped when they told me to got to Coerthas since I didnt know where it was. So then I started the Gridania mission but this happened:

This is what happens when you dont follow the path in Thanalan and try to take a short cut to camp drybone. What was really annoying was that I used my last anima to go from Camp Emerald Moss to Gridania then got an airship to Ul'Dah then a chocobo to that shortcut that was full of level 80 monsters. Then my return function took me all the way back to Emerald Moss.

Anyway, from the camp I saw the path to Coerthas and took these:

That place is beautiful but a real nightmare for someone at my level. Everything was level 30+ most of which had a red star next to their name, there was a beastmen encampment and two notorious monsters. I only got a pick of the really big one, the other one looked like a Spriggan. So I doubt that it was very notorious.
