As a follow-up to Pubic Drinking Fountains, as I was made redundantly aware that water bottles is a horrible horrible waste of resources, I was further reminded of a half month long brainstorm where I imagined a future where we could convert salt water from the oceans to drinking water.

I then started to consider that such a large scale consumption of water will lead to irreversible consequences in the worldwide weather patterns due to excessive harvesting of the oceans for water. Is this ..I'll call it a plain guess since hypothesis implies educated guessing...a viable conclusion or just fear mongering?
