I lot of reference to digging-> dug-> duggles here. Plus, the Duggles are renowned for being a dirty team.

But that's just part of the game
Referencing blitzball here, and how it seems to be a "dirty game" anyway.

The superstar is referencing Tidus, who is on the Abes. In FFX2 you can play against the Abes, who have a player named Star Player.
