    Default Role Playing

Probably a lot of other people have done this too, but I tried making XII more fun in my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs by assigning jobs to my party members. I've heard that the international version makes it easier to do so, but I still wanted to try it out in this version and I recommend others to try it to as it gives a different perspective on the game though committing to some jobs can be frustrating.

My classification of Jobs in this game
    Thief: Light armor, Daggers, steal
Pirate: light armor, guns, swords, steal
Black Mage:Magic armor, Staves Black magic, Shades of Black
White Mage; Magic armor, Rods, White magic,
Green Mage: Magic Hat, light armor, hand bombs, measures, green magic
Dark Mage: Magic armor, Staves, daggers, maces, Arcane Magic
Red Mage: Light hat, mage robes, sword & shield, black & white magic
Time Mage: Magic armor, Rods & Staves, time magic
Knight: Heavy armor, sword, shield, two handed swords
Berserker: heavy Armor, axes & hammers, gambit self berserk
Dark Knight: Helmets, Magic robes, two handed swords, axes and shields, arcane magic
Paladin: Magic hat, heavy armor, sword & shield, bow, white magic
Ninja: light armor, ninja swords, dark, darkra, darkga
Technician: Helmets, light armor, katana, guns, all techniques
Monk: light armor, unarmed, telekinesis, 1000 Needles

There may be more possible jobs that I can't think of, but here are some weapons that were left over or can be done exclusively
    Bows & Crossbows
    Guns
    Poles
    Katanas

Here's my run through of creating jobs during my 2nd playthrough. Break it down by quarters.
    1st Quarter
    Vaan: Thief
    Ashe: White Mage
    Penelo: Red Mage
    Balthier: Pirate
Fran: Archer with cure (I know I cheated on this one)
    Basch: Knight

    2nd Quarter
    Vaan: Black Mage
    Ashe: White Mage
    Penelo: Red Mage
    Balthier: Green Mage/Tactician
    Fran: Monk
    Basch: Berserker

    3rd Quarter
    Vaan: Ninja/Black Mage
    Ashe: Paladin
    Penelo: Red Mage/Pole user
    Balthier: Green Mage/Tactician
    Frank: Anything
    Basch: Dark Knight

As you can see it got boring from time to time trying to stick with my initial job classes.Others?

    How about adding Lancer?

Lancer: Heavy Armor, Lances, Darkness, Bonecrusher, Shades of Black, Revive, Infuse, Poach(Actually, I got this from the International version of FFXII where the Lancers are known as "Uhlan". If you want to know more about FFXII International, click on the link in my sig)

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

This could be fun. I'll try to come up with my own and post what I come up with.

I didn't forgot. I just got playing FFX instead. Okay, yeah, I forgot. XP When I can do a small bit of research, I'll post again. Next time I play FFXII, which will prolly be after FFX.

OK I only have one of my saves open right now and I don't think it was a real class-crazy idea one. But here goes.

    Vaan - Thief (intially)
    Light Armor
    Daggers
Technicks: Probably Steal & Poach. Creative, I know
Magick: only really gave him some basic time spells since it went with his theme of a lot of fast hits

    later on he became

    Samurai
    Genji Equipment
    Masamune
gave him some magic eventually to have him be able to hit flyers and do some basic healing.

    Balthier
    Sky Pirate
    Guns
    Light Armor
    Steal & Poach
only magics he really got were certain buffs like bravery

    Fran
    Black Mage
    Bows
    Magic Armor
Black & Time Magic (kinda like in FFI)

    Basch - Knight/Paladin
    Two-Handed Swords
    Heavy Armor
Minor White Magic and Buffs, get stronger as he progresses
Technicks - the big ones like expose and wither that Knights got to use in FFT to lower foes strength/defense

    Ashe - Dark Knight
    One-handed Swords & Shields
    Heavy Armor, with Magic Helmets
    Arcane Magic
    Soul Eater technick (of course)

    Penelo
    White Mage
    Staves/Rods/Crossbows
    Magic Armor
White & Green Magic (super buffs and heals, yo)

OK so those were pretty boring. I actually really wanna play this game again, it was a crazy classic. Just reminded of the horrible inverted camera controls, though, and how bad it looks on my HDTV. Really hope the HD remake on PS3 thing happens sooner rather than later, I'd buy this day one.
