It is interesting that the English localization has been announced for Europe without any word of a North America release. What has been the general reaction to the game so far?

Well, this is better than it staying in Japan forever. Hopefully NA will get an announcement sometime this year.

Since this is just a small thing and is still just speculative at this point. There is still some hope that The Last Story might see western shores.

Something similar has happened with Xenoblade, it's likelier to come to N. America in addition to Europe.
Nintendo registers Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story domains | Warp Zoned
The difference is the Last Story was registered over a year ago, whereas Xenoblade was registered around the same time the EU version was announced, so it seems a little likelier. Of course, it'd be amazing to get more confirmation of these two coming to the states
