Uh, that's kind of the point, guy. It lets you do things your own way. It's not a matter of guessing the right way of doing something. You decide what way you want to do it (either because you think it will be the easiest way, or the fastest way, or the coolest way) and then you do it.

It gives you a bunch of tools you don't have to use, but it's a much better game if you do use them. Or you can just not use them and make it kind of boring. If that's your bag. Just don't complain about it later.
