    Default Laptop: keeper or no?

Now that I FINALLY have a job, I can replace this hunk of junk I currently call my computer. HADES is his name, for a good reason, I assure you.

I spotted this when I was going to check my schedule for next week and thought the price was pretty fair. I want your guys' opinions, though. Is this a good one or not?

For its price, eh..you could throw a few hundred more and get something that isn't a single core processor from years ago. The screen is nice too.

That's all I have to say. Everything else on a laptop is the same as it the rest - monitor, wifi, network port. Etc.

What do you want to use it for? Just general internetting and multimedia? I wouldn't get that PC if I wanted to do much more than those two things, and even then, i think it looks a bit on the weak side.

The CPU in it is the biggest problem, I'd say. it would also have been nice if it had a bit more RAM, considering that stuff is really cheap now. Like 20 bucks for 2 GB cheap.

At that price, it could be hard to find something that is significantly better. Personally though, if I had 400 dollars right now to buy a laptop for, I would have waited another month so I could have made that 500.

Basically what everyone else has said. I wouldn't think that laptop is much of an 'upgrade' really, but I guess if you're just browsing and watching movies then you'll be fine.

Both my laptops are satellites, so I can vouch that the make is pretty awesome (the cons are; horrible battery life, sometimes overheats) and my newer one has awesome in-built speakers. But they're also both (even the ooold one) dual cores.

    Newegg.com - Recertified: ASUS UL50 Series UL50VT-RBBBK05 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300(1.30GHz) 15.6" 4GB DDR3 Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce G210M

Getting a 500gb harddrive and 4gb of ram is probably worth the $100 alone. Let alone weighing one pound less, having an extra USB port, dual-core processor, non-integrated video card, and built-in card reader.

    Keep searching!

Not to mention that one has an actual name-brand graphics card with the potential to play actual games (if one so chooses to do with a laptop) rather than the generic Intel card that'll probably only handle WoW and other low-resource games
