Default How did the GBA version do these scenes?

    1. Bannon and the returners accusing the Narshe villagers of "encouraging blood shed".

    2. Setzer supporting the Empire because they "made him a rich man".

Because for reasons I'll explain after I get the answer, these are two of the worst translated moments in this otherwise excelent game.

Here is the text for the scene between Setzer, Celes, and the rest of the party in Final Fantasy VI Advance:

Setzer: Don't worry, I'll give you plenty of attention later.

Locke: What a performance! You're a great fake actress, Celes.
    Celes: Enough!
Locke: But the real show starts now. It's time for Act Two!
    Locke: Where's Setzer?
Celes: He should be right back.

Setzer: Wh-what are you doing here? Y-you're not Maria, are you!?
Celes: Setzer, we need your help. We need to get to Vector. Your ship
    is the only--
Setzer: If you're not Maria, then we have nothing to talk about.
Celes: Wait! We heard that your ship is the finest vessel in the world
Locke: And that you were the world's greatest gambler...
Edgar: I'm the king of Figaro. If you help us, you'll be well
    rewarded...
    Setzer: Come with me.
    Celes: Then you'll...?
Setzer: Don't misunderstand. I still haven't said I'll help you.

[The group goes with Setzer to a different part of the airship.]

Setzer: Hmm... Business has been awfully slow lately, thanks to the
    Empire...
Celes: You're not the only one suffering. The Empire has been toppling
towns and villages left and right...
Locke: They're abusing their Magitek power and trying to take over
    the world.
Edgar: My kingdom was allied with the Empire...until recently.
Sabin: Maybe you want to be a slave to the Empire, but I sure don't.
    Setzer: ...Hmm.
Celes: We're at least together in hating the Empire, right? So,
    please...
Setzer: You know, I think you may be even cuter than Maria.
    Celes: Huh?
setzer: All right! If you... If Celes becomes my wife, I'll help you.
    Otherwise...
    Locke: WHAT!? Are you crazy!?
    Celes: ...Fine.
    Setzer: Great! It's settled!
Celes: But I have some conditions... We flip this coin. If it's heads,
you help us. If it's tails, I'm yours. Well, Mr. Gambler?
Setzer: Ha! I like it! I accept.
Locke: Celes... Are you serious...? If you marry that guy...
    Celes: Ready?

[Celes flips the coin into the air.]

Celes: Heads... I win. Now it's time for you to hold up your end of
    the bargain.
Setzer: ...A valuable trinket indeed. I've never seen a double-headed
    coin before.
Sabin: That coin...!? Edgar! Don't tell me...!
Celes: I'm afraid you've been hustled, Mr. Gambler. But that's part of
    the game, now, isn't it?
Setzer: Ha! How low can you stoop? ...I love it! All right, I'll help
you. Gambling against the Empire, with nothing to lose but my
life... I haven't felt so excited in years! My life is a chip
    in your pile! Ante up!

Here is an analysis of the scene between Setzer and Celes by Lina Darkstar at the Icy Brian Forums comparing the English and Japanese translations.

YES!!! That's the part I'm looking for right there! Thanks Roogle.

The SNES version really messed up this line line, and made it look like Setzer supported the Empire, when in reality, he hates them as much as everyone else. So in that case the GBA translation is pretty close to the orginal script...

    Setzer}: Phew....
Business is ruined thanks to the Empire.

    {Celes}: It's not just you.
Many towns and villages are being
     controlled by the Empire
The site I got this from even criticizes the fact that they make Setzer say the opposite to what he means, in the translation version.

Shall I say what was wrong with the Narshe scene, or shall I wait 'til someone shows me the GB script of that?

I'm confused. His line sounds paraphrased to he same meaning. Only exception being that "phew" signals some kind of relief, while "hmm" indicates he's mulling it over. Probably relieved due to the prospect of finally having some kind of business again. He's basically complaining the empire is putting too much pressure on his "business" dealings, which neither case makes him sound like a fan of

Sorry, I wasn't clear. What I mean is, in the US SNES version he says "The Empire has made me a rich man", and then Celes (or someone) accuses him of being selfish or something. Basically, in the US version it is implied he still trusts the Empire, which is wrong.

I wonder if the reason they did that was on purpose. The game has a ton of Star Wars references, so I wouldn't be surprised if Ted Woosely just decided to go along and make Setzer a Lando knockoff.

I cannot recall the scene in Narshe that you are referring to without playing through the game again. Could you elaborate on this scene?

    Here is the line in the US translated SNES version;

ELDER: I understand all of it... Except...
How can WE be encouraging bloodshed?
    ARVIS: I never said...that!
    ELDER: Something like it.
BANON: Ha! He's right you know!
    ARVIS: Banon!
BANON: Our blood will spill because of you.
And here is the original Japanese translation from Japan.

Elder: I understand the general concept.
     But....
You're telling us to shed blood...?
Jun: That isn't what we're saying.
    Elder: It's the same thing.
    Bannan: Ha, ha, ha! Exactly!
    Jun: Bannan!
    Bannan: We are telling you
     to shed blood.
That's the main difference, once again they got it backwards - did the GBA correct this one as well?

Here is the text for the scene between the Returners and the Elder of Narshe in Final Fantasy VI Advance:

Elder: I understand what you're saying. But...you're asking us to spill our
    blood for you.
Arvis: That's not what we asked!
Elder: What you ask is the same.
    Banon: Ha! You're absolutely right.
    Arvis: Banon!
Banon: We're asking you to spill your blood.
