Tropic of Cancer anyone? I was searching for information on a book about closeted gay rap and R&B artists and for some reason Google Books took me to a book about a woman who has sex with a famous actor to get him to be in the movie she's producing, but the book is written so distastefully that it makes it seem like it's a twelve year old writing it. It's like you don't need to say anything got inserted. It can be assumed...nor do you need to go in graphic detail on the "moisture" and "texture". People have imaginations. With that said, I don't have a huge issue with it if it's done tastefully and makes sense within the context of the novel.

I was uncomfortable with all the sex (and wincest) in Game of Thrones when I read it, but that was many years ago now.

Some of the best books are sexual in nature! Lolita, anyone? Every single one of Haruki Murakami's novels and short stories?!

With that said, it has to be done well. I don't want to pick up a serious novel and have it read like a cheesy housemother romance novel. No talking about her moist "valley of sex" or anything of the like.

I don't mind it. All of my favorite books have quite a few sex scenes in them... not that the two are connected in any way! If those people can't deal with it then maybe they should be reading something else.

As long as it is tasteful, I do not mind. I had not problem with the sex in A Game of Thrones.

I do not like sex scenes in books. If I want that I'll go and read a sex book or a Snape x Harry fanfic. If it's just a regular book then the sex is likely to be awkward and ineptly written. Though that's my experience with sex in all entertainment media, tbh.
