Default I do want to finish this game I really do, but....

Okay here's the situation. My first playthrough save of FFXIII sits at the beginning of Chapter 12 and well I just don't have the will to continue on playing! This game has been maximum effort for minimum reward and as a result I haven't played it in months. On the other hand, as a big fan of the FF series part of me feels almost obligated to finish it!!!

Can anyone please offer up any tips for the boss at the beginning of Chapter 12 (last time I fought it, it was basically a stale mate, I couldn't kill it, it couldn't kill me) so that I might have some motivation to finish this game and at least see the story to the end!

Have you been maxing out your crystarium or are you going in weaker than normal?

Yup, everyones crystariums are maxed out for their 3 primary roles & quite a bit of time was invested in secondary roles if I remember correctly

The feeling of obligation is the only reason I pushed myself to beat it and be done with it. Sorry, can't remember the boss your talking about, but if your maxed out then I'd just switch your character roles around a bit. I think during that chapter I was using Fang, Lightning and Sazh for haste. Unless Hope has haste yet.

Uhhh are you talking about the Proudclad? If I'm remember correctly, it's a matter of being very fast with your Paradigm shifts. Start with your standard COM/RAV/RAV, switch to COM/SEN/MED when someone falls in the yellow, and immediately switch back to your fully offensive roles when back in the green. You may be switching literally every other second, but if you play it safe and only have one offensive character through the whole battle, it's going to be a pain. Going in with shrouds helps a lot, if that's not an option you may want to start the battle with SEN/SYN combinations. A lot of strategies I'm reading on it just say "okay now what you do is go in COM/SEN/MED and sit there for two hours" and honestly the only time you should ever ever have to do a battle like that is when fighting Gigantuar.

Basically just switch between your offensive and support roles quickly, and do not lose your chain. Sorry I can't remember it better, otherwise I could give you a less general strategy!

If it was Proud Clod, he was the last boss that gave me issues. Go in with a party of Fang, Hope, and Lightning. SEN/SYN/MED. Once Hope has a decent chunk of the buffs up go COM/RAV/RAV. The important paradigm role to have in this fight is SEN/MED/COM. Like Jessweeee mentioned, you don't want to lose the chain so you need to keep a Commando in there to slow down the Chain Break gauge. After that, its just a matter of switching between healing and all out offense, occasionally bringing back you synergist to keep haste up.

I had a hard time at first cause I was using Lightning, Snow, and Vanille and it turns out Saboteur doesn't work on the boss. Throwing in the more powerful Fang and placing Hope who is good at all magic changed the tide of battle for me dramatically.

If you are talking about the giant adamantoise monster though... Use the same party as above except have the starting party be a Medic and use a Synergist and Saboteur to buff yourselves up and debuff the damn thing. Switch to two healers when health gets low and then once all buffs are up, RAV/RAV/COM. It should go down pretty quickly.

Ah. It can be wiped out with just Odin alone, but should that fail, you need to stagger it to do any damage. You probably know this already, being in Chapter 12 and all, but the best way to build up a chain is to do a few attacks with a Commando and then switch to RAV/RAV/RAV to speed things up.

That boss is pretty easy once you realize that you can hurt it when it's staggered. If it even survives until that point, one round of staggering should be enough to finish it off.

I inflicted a beatdown upon the Anavatapa Warmech, killed a bunch of random enemies for kicks then saved! Gotta ease myself back into it
