Patriots Schaudenfreude Day (aka NFL playoffs thread)

As far as I'm concerned, the Super Bowl will be anticlimactic after the Jets beatdown of the Patriots yesterday. There are no scrappy underdogs to root for this year (damn you, Seattle), so I guess I have to root for the Jets, because that would piss Pats fans off the most.

So, who's going to the Super Bowl? Who are you rooting for? What have you thought of the playoffs so far?

I was amused at a losing team getting into the playoffs and then knocking off New Orleans, even though I like the Saints. I like the Jets (largely because of Rex Ryan), but I don't see them beating the Steelers.

I don't know who will win the NFC. When the hell did Jay Cutler become good? I am still having trouble adjusting to this.

Some great games so far, Ravens completely blew it, and the Jets were excellent last night. I think the Packers will win the NFC, they're on a real roll at the moment, but not sure about the AFC yet. The Jets will be on a high but the Steelers are very tough opponents.

He's just having a "better" season. It's easy to call someone good when previously they've been absolutely atrocious. He's still a bad quarterback and will probably go back to being one next season.

I want Jets-Packers with Aaron Rodgers leading the Packers to a victory. I enjoy watching the Jets (also largely because of Rex Ryan) but not enough to want them to win the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the post-season right now.

    Also it's Schadenfreude.

Of course he's bad. Will he still be a bad QB if he wins a Superbowl this year?

Argh, KSK has been saying "Shaudenfreude" all day, and now they have me doing it.

That's true. He's benefiting from a solid defense and better offensive line, too. It'll be telling to see how he fares against the Packers.

Bad quarterbacks can win Super Bowls. See: Trent Dilfer.

As a Dolphins fan, I hate the Patriots, but I hate the Jets even more. Hoping the Steelers give 'em a good smackdown next week.

I guess I root for Chicago at this point even though I've maintained all season that they're one of the most overrated teams in the NFL right now.

How is Chicago overrated? Everyone says they're overrated and crappy

Looking at the last half of the season, they haven't been overly impressive. They beat two decent teams (Jets and Eagles), and lost to the other good teams they played (Patriots and Packers). Their offensive numbers have not been the most impressive, either, though the running game picked up a bit at the end of the regular season.

Actually, looking at the schedule made me make up my mind, and so I think the Packers will win the NFC.

Pretty much what Raistlin said. They haven't shown the kind of dominance that justifies the kind of hooplah they've been getting. They're a good team, but they're not great. Certainly not awful.

What e are you lot spouting? Cutler's a pretty smurfing decent triggerman. Haters be hatin. No matter what sport haters be hatin

what Hooplah have they been getting is my point. Everyone I hear says they suck and shouldn't even be a thought. of course everyone also said they wouldn't make the playoffs or that they wouldn't win the division. And oh yeah they beat Green Bay in the first meeting but, I guess that one doesn't count just the one that the Bears had nothing to play for counted

I'm going to a wedding on the 6th so I'm going to miss the Super Bowl. (Seriously, who has a wedding that day?) But if it ends up being Steelers-Bears I'm not going to miss it that much. Yawwwwnnnnn

So I think Jets-Packers will be the more entertaining game, and more entertaining story. I don't see NY beating Pittsburgh though. Pittsburgh is due for their 'every other year we're the best team' thing. In the NFC Green Bay is on a roll, and Chicago is not as good, so I say Green Bay. However that could go either way.

Then Pittsburgh will win the Super Bowl and Dr Unne can wear his foam finger with pride.

His ability to throw the ball has never been a question. He's an excellent passer. Unfortunately, he doesn't always pass it to the right team and he cannot hold onto the ball to save his life. His attitude is pretty lackluster (by all accounts he's a douchebag off the field and a whiner on it). He's having a decent year compared to the last few but, as I said earlier, it's easy to improve terrible.
