    Getting Vincent to join...

i hear that Vincent was an Optional character so i googled where i could find him..
so i raced back to nebelheim, opened the save and... got the crap beatn out of me

How do i defeat that monster?
it goes fine until he turnes purple.
than he gets my characters down in 1 blow

Im playing with my strongest party but even that isnt enough.
I know u have to hit the purple with magic becaus its pretty much resistent against 'normal atacks'

but i wil NOT give up until Vincent joined my party !! D::objection:

So any tips, hints or tricks? ^^

The boss changes depending on whether you deal more magic or physical damage if I remember right. So you want to play to your strengths -- if you're strong physically, attack magically first up. I might be confusing myself, so hopefully someone else can clear it up.

Secondly, just check your materia set up. Remove anything (green usually) that isn't necessary, as it weakens your strength and HP.

^^Especially with Cloud. Materia really weighs him down, and his physical hits are strong enough to rely on.

A good strategy would be to put all your party members in fury, and have Aeris. She can use Seal Evil Limit Break which paralyzes him, so it makes it a little easier. You can also Choco/Mog to paralyze the monster. Barrier and Haste are good spells to cast. A good team would be to have Aeris to cast spells, and Red XIII to attack physically. It shouldn't be too difficult, however, and if you can't beat it you may need to level up your team.

    alright ill try that..
so if u hit him with magic atacks he wil turn red? making him (more) vulnerable for 'normal-atacks' ?

    ill try that,, thansk!!

What stage of the game are you at, by the way? You can get beasted by that boss even if you've already hit disk 2 if you're under levelled like I was. If he keeps giving you trouble, the best idea is just to do some training and come back later. Vinny isn't going anywhere!

    Please don't think I'm being smug when I say this, I'm really not;
did you really lose to him on disk 2? I've only ever fought him on disk one the first time I go to neibleheim, and I haven't lost yet. Maybe I just understand ff7 or somethin?

from wutai i went to a 'bones city' (dnt know what its called), and at the doorstep of that city i googled Vincent and turned around back to nibelheim

When I fight Lost Number (monster in safe) I always take with me; Choco/Mog Seal Evil, Cross Slash. All of those will stun him for a while, and if you've leveled up Choco/Mog you can use it again and again. I'd also use Hypers on your characters so you can get limit breaks quicker. If you keep him stunned, you'll be able to kill him before he changes color.

Grinding means to take a few hours (or more) and work towrds one goal, in this case spend a few hours (minutes more likely) leveling up
