It is an incredibly well done trailer but I have doubts that the game will be as good.
That trailer was really amazing, though the spots for DoA Paradise were also incredibly clever and I loved them.
That aside, why is it that children are so much more prone to the uncanny valley than adults?
That was kinda cool, I liked it. If the game is balls I will be disappointed
I too have seen the trailer before comming here. It's an announcement trailer but yes epicly done. I'll agree with IGN it's quite possibly the best trailer of 2011 so far. From the game I'm hoping for something what looks as good as Resi 5 whilst playing more like a silent hill, less gunning and running more paranoia/suspense though from the axe work it could end up playing more Dead Rising than anything else...not sure if that'll be good or bad.
From what I saw it gave me theimpression of some sort of mytant hubrid between dead rising and l4d
People moan there are too many zombie games yet not one proper one has been made yet. Dead Rising and L4D emphasise killing zombies but where is the game that emphasises the survival aspect. I'm hoping Dead Island is that game.
When challenged, nobody can actually LIST all these zombie games that make it an overdone genre, let alone which makes a first-person survival-based zombie game commonplace enough to be called generic. So yeah, they're all just buttranged because it's not whatever sequel they were hyping themselves up for it to be.
The trailer itself is pretty good, but I feel like it's a little pretentious with this backwards out of order stuff. I have no problem with that in itself, it's just that the trailer works even better when it's all cut together in order.
I still want to know what these parents were doing letting their child out in the middle of zombies everywhere![]()
I think it's more the idea of zombie culture flooding everything in recent years. Books, merch, games, movies, etc. A lot of creators are trying to put their own spin on the concept and it's leading to some burn out.
Also, the trailer sucks in forward motion! It kills the emotional impact of the whole thing. The hand grabbing scene was pretty powerful in the way it was originally done.
There's a bunch of b-class zombie movies coming out lately. But nothing hollywood or theatrical since Zombieland that I can remember. And there's a lot of XBLA games that are zombie killing madness. But as far as full-bred games, since Resident Evil left zombies behind, I think its just L4D and Dead Rising, unless I've missed something. I don't keep up on things though. But yeah, there hasn't been a really good zombie fiasco for a while (considering I hate L4D and Dead Rising just bores me after a while xD). So I think I'm with Dreddz
I don't think I get it...what's so amazing about that trailer?
No, I'm not trying to be an ass/killjoy, I'm asking a serious question.
I like Kung-Fu.
Trailer was poncey.
Game, however?
Dead Island will feature open world gameplay, played from a first person perspective, with up to four-player co-operative play. The focus will be on melee combat, incorporating customizable weaponry and RPG elements.
Sold.
Trailer is amazing! Doesn't necessarily apply to gameplay, but I'm allowed to be hopeful. :]
Eww, first person. Everything else sounds great though.Originally Posted by Psychotic
