Was it? I don't even remember.
They did a good job reintroducing the characters and letting the audience see where each storyline was at without going a bit to overboard. The exclusion of Arya and Bran was a really good idea, as it would have been a completely clustersmurf had they tried to keep them in there. (SPOILER)Sad that Strong Belwas won't be in the third season though.
It wasn't as action packed but it was pretty solid.
I got to see Jon Snow be Jon Snow. That was enough. Also damn that demon girl thing was creepy. And freakin Obi wan or whoever was like something out of a FF game.
The women in the show are also seriously hot. Margery or however you spell it (Joffrey's fine fine honey) is so smurfing hot. God damn. That smirk. smurf.
Yup it is (SPOILER)how she gets the Unsullied. She plays being the ignorant, stupid foreign girl and scams the man out of his army.
I liked the opening to the season just fine. The opening and ending episodes of the seasons seem to be more about setting the stage and resolving the stage. If this were a normal show then the end of season 2 would have ended (SPOILER) during the battle on the shore. Probably right as soon as Tyrion got slashed it would fade to black. What will happen? Tune in next season to find out! This is not that sort of show. This episode was more about setting up motivations and the paths people are about to take and that is fine by me.
Also, I am actually really surprised people don't care for Daenerys all that much. Her story I find to be one of the more interesting ones. Her, Jon Snow and Tyrion are the ones that I am most interested in.

I thought that the subtitling was supposed to indicate what she (Daenerys) understood and what she didn't which is why not all of that guys babbling was subbed.
I don't put spoiler tags on things because I'm a whorefaceIf I remember correctly (it's been quite some time), she understood them just fine and all the subtitles were just things that weren't actually be translated.
Oh boo-hoo, guy who just caught up a few days ago. xP
(SPOILER)One of her shining moments.
Good episode. I imagine things will pick up quickly, seeing as they have a looot of story to cover in 10 hours.
(SPOILER) Based on episode titles, Episode 9 is called "Rains of Castamere". That is a song that is sung as the signalling for the Red Wedding so it might be for that. Given they will probably give alot of coverage to that, they really do have to cover alot in the remaining 9 hours.
(SPOILER)Not really. They have 19 hours to do the other events in Storm of Swords and, while there is a significant amount of important events happening in the book, they also have the option (and will likely take the opportunity) to move things into the fifth season, since some of the core characters are missing from that (Dany, Tyrion, etc.) I do not think the Red Wedding is going to have the same episode dedication that the Battle of Blackwater did as it was a relatively quick thing with a strong focus on the various reactions across the realms.
I struggle to read this thread as I never know if the spoiler tags are spoilers for the show that was just on or spoilers for the future of the show (ie, from books or leaks).Either way, I'll offer my thoughts on what happened on the show that has just finished: It was alright. I agree it could have been a lot longer, but I think that's mostly me being greedy for the entire series to be released in a day.
I liked pretty much everything, although the Stannis stuff was eh... if only because I think the red lady is a proper evil bitch and I don't like seeing the good guys lose. Such is life in good stories, though. I hope he gets something good happening to him in the end. Beyond that, I was intrigued by the developments in... Astapor, was it? Yeah, I think that's the one. I'm keen to find out what happens next, and am starting to consider reading the book series from book two onwards, finally... but then, I'm halfway through The Uncanny X-Men and I don't want to quit now. Damn having so many very long things to read through at once.
Anyway, bring on the next episode!
Bow before the mighty Javoo!
Glad I'm not the only one! Davos ftw.
Bow before the mighty Javoo!
It's done much better in the books (SPOILER)(though in ADoD Stannis spends most of his time gritting his teeth while being stuck in snow and praying for miracles, but then again nothing really happened in that book). Everything that's not Lannister or Stark related has been cut and distilled to the point where they barely resemble the fairly self-contained adventures of most POV characters in the books.
This twenty-year-old boy was distinguished from childhood by strange qualities, a dreamer and an eccentric. A girl fell in love with him, and he went and sold her to a brothel...
Not that there was ever any doubt that it would be, but GoT has officially been renewed for its fourth season. And there was much rejoicing.
