It can safely be said that every character you "do not like" is someone you will eventually like.
Unless you are boring and don't understand character depth.
What about Joffrey?
I greatly disliked Sansa at first, but I'm changing my opinion of her. I started liking Catelyn more after she admitted how horrible she was to Jon.
I hate Joffrey.
I loathe Stannis, and I guess I'm not fond of Melisandre.
I can tolerate Tywin. The moments with Arya are my favourite scenes with him. It gives him some humanity.
I either pity or dislike Cersei.
I used to dislike Theon, now I do pity him for the situation he's gotten himself in for.
I'm growing to like Sansa.
I like Arya in principle, but her storyline and childish bravado does irritate me.
How the hell do you dislike Cersei?! She's amazing! I love Tywin, except for when he was a jerky jerk to Tyrion. And I think Arya has grown up quite a bit since the start of her adventure.
Joffrey is an incredible character to me.
His mother is a conniving woman who thinks she is smarter than she actually is and, as such, thinks she deserves more power and authority than she should actually have.
His father (Robert) never game him the time of day and was an imposing figure in his life through his own history (becoming king the way he did). Joffrey could never impress him because he was seen as nothing more than a dandy.
He was thrust into becoming king without any actual preparation (because his father did not teach him and his mother taught him that everyone is an enemy).
He was completely destined to be a completely atrocious king.
Yeah, appreciating character depth is not the same as not liking someone who is a complete twat. I think fantasy writers get those confused quite a bit actually.
