Another good post hardcore band is Scary Kids Scaring Kids. The Deep End is really good.

Another band I've recently gotten back into listening to is 30 Second to Mars. I really like Hurricane. This link is NSFWish. I'm not sure how graphic the Youtube version gets but the uncut video is... pornographic.
I'm not normally in to the Christian rock scene, frankly it's a little too religious for my tastes, the overtone of dogmatic preaching disagrees with me. I'm pretty sure most people here are aware of my views on religion if you're not, check some of my posts in threads on the subject of them. However that first song by Cry Of The Afflicted there was pretty damn good I must say and managed to somehow lyrically carry less religious overtones than a Paramore track lol.

The second song, Scary Kids Scaring Kids is also a damn good track there I heartily approve of these choices.

30 Seconds To Mars well I need not say anything I love that band, I saw them live on the Hurricane tour was an amazing night they truly are great live.

Personally I am a rock/emo scene guy I don't suppose I do have a favourite band really. I love a lot of artists stuff and listen to it extensively artists like Foo Fighters, Rise Against, 12 Stones, Breaking Benjamin, 30 Seconds To Mars, Lost Prophets, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Lacuna Coil, 3 Doors Down, Trapt, Journey, Biffy Clyro, Blink 182, Yellowcard and many many more. Then again my tastes range from stuff like David Gray through to Slipknot and beyond so I'm weird.

At the moment I'm listening extensively to the new Rise Against Album - Endgame mainly because I'm seeing them live in around 24 hours

I have been REALLY into Skrillex lately.

Some of you may remember Skrillex from From First to Last. He is Sonny Moore.

This reminds me of something like this, which makes me worry, because you don't know what you're listening to...

Just saying, sounds like some sort of brain wave entertainment.

Look into it then. Try relaxation videos, and the like. It's something I enjoy listening to, sort of a secret interest, until now. I use alpha waves for art work, and my work improves dramatically.

I don't care for the vocals enough, sounds sort of poppy to me.But, it's still a good band.

I'm a bit of a rarity around EoFF as I like mainstream music. I always find it really difficult to come up with a 'favourite' genre/song/band. Genre I suppose is easiest, since it covers so many things... but basically I can like anything that isn't thrashing/screaming metal. Classical, pop, rock, indie, country, folk, rap, R&B, hip hop, disco, foreign or local, synth... I've enjoyed songs from all of these genres, but I can never really get my head around a guy screaming over the thrashing of drums and whatnot.

As for favourite artists, it's hard to really say, but I'll put down a few examples. All are based on their music, not their celebrity status... I don't know much about that end of things.

    BANDS
    Something Corporate
    Def Leppard
    Jars of Clay
    Alphabeat
    The Saturdays

    ARTISTS
    Rihanna
    Example
    Bryan Adams
    Eminem
    Gary Moore

Finally, songs? Argh, almost impossible xD I'll pass! I do have a playlist online, although I've not updated it for a few months at least - Winamp Generated PlayList
    Bow before the mighty Javoo!

Quite a few people are turned off towards good Christian artists just because they're labeled as such. To be honest I've never heard a Christian artist with "dogmatic preachy" lyrics. It's all about praising God, not preaching to you their beliefs.

If you liked Cry of the Afflicted because their religious views weren't exactly obvious in their music then you'd probably like RED, Anberlin, Chevelle (which is a big controversy apparently), Ivoryline, Emery, Secret and Whisper, Since October, and maybe even Fireflight.

Misha Mansoor (aka Bulb) from Periphery actually helped Tosin Abasi write some of the drum tracks and few other things on the first Animals As Leaders album.
Ive heard them before and did not know it...but i remember them as soon as i heard them...epic band...and whats the djent stuff?
Djent is a very loosely described genre of metal that holds a common theme of using 8-string guitars and bass and the signature sounds created by those instruments when the strings are hit a certain way followed up by a quick mute.

It literally makes a "djent" sound. As in, "djent....djentdjent...djent....djentdjent...djentdjentdjent..."

Meshuggah is credited with creating the sound, and considered the grandfather of the genre, but I don't know how fair that is. Most of the bands in this "genre" are really creative and that "djent" aspect is just one aspect of their song structures.

Here's a random sampling of some bands using that "djent" sound.

Here's the urban-dictionary take on it. Seems pretty accurate. It's more a sound than a genre. Most djent bands are really just heavier progressive metal.

Call it what you will, that's the definition. It's just like saying the Blues is a dumb name. It's music about how the person feels, and the feeling is blue. The Blues. This music has a common sound, so it's named after that sound. What's so bad about that?

Furthermore, I said it was a loose description. To me it was more a sound than a genre anyway. It just seems that a lot of the newer progressive metal out there is using that sound, so they get put into that genre. It's a very new genre, so the definition is not very concrete. Whatever though. As long people are trying new things I'm happy.

I'm fairly certain other genres don't have an onomatopoeia as their name. And most of those bands just sound like heavy prog or industrial metal.

I just think it's dumb to name a genre like that.
