You're a gay commercial.

Pretty sure this was just discussed in EoEO :P While I get that society is being disrespectful to the gay community by saying that kind of stuff. Its rarely a case of them being obnoxiously malicious about it. Its just a slang term that society has adopted it. Nobody is trying to be mean about it. I honestly don't think there's anything to get upset about. They're not calling gay people dumb. Though I admit I can see a correlation, considering they're calling dumb things gay. But really, its only a minority of people who actually have a problem with it, and its not always the gay and lesbian community who get up in arms about it. Some people just look for things to be an activist about and some of them latch onto that. So while I respect people's preference against the word's general usage, I really can't respect someone's extremist agenda against it. Its not a word I even try to make a habit of saying, it's just simply become habit. If someone politely tells me it bothers them I'd probably remember to never use it around them. No big deal. No need to make a big deal. That just gets people all defensive anyway, and could exacerbate the situation instead
wrong again, liberal media!
I kinda like Wanda Sykes, but sadly I have to agree, she is an idiot.
I saw a commercial a few years ago with Hilary Duff where there were two girls who were in a clothing store and they picked up some jeans or something they didn't like and they were like "These jeans are soooooooo gay" and then Hilary was like "Why do you have to say that? Well what if I say those jeans are soooooo girl wearing a skirt as a shirt" in reference to the shirt the girl who said gay was wearing. Then I saw another just a few days ago with two girls in a grocery store and one of them picked up a can of peas or something and was like "$2.99 for this? That's so gay" and the other one was like "Yeah that's totally gay" and then some other girl was like "Oh my god yeah, high prices are sooo Nancy and Stacy...yeah did you hear? When something sucks or isn't very good then you call it Nancy and Stacy. Everyone's doing it!" or something to that ridiculous effect.
I assume it's part of the same line of commercials. I hate them.
I like Kung-Fu.

Oh I remember when blondes used to get so up in arms about the whole idea of being a blonde. And now its become culturally accepted and people frequently say things like "Sorry, I was having a blonde moment". Nobody rational thinks all blondes are idiots. And just because you have blonde hair doesn't make you "a blonde". And if you're a freaking moron and you have boobs, you're being a blonde, even if you're brunette. Its dumb, but its been accepted to be this way
This thread gay
And you are Bert. Whats the problem?
