Default Is this song sampling music from an FF or am I just hearing things?

    I've had this song:

YouTube - Dryad A Green Memory

For about a year now, and from the first time I heard the intro I could have sworn it was sampling a song from a Final Fantasy, or at least an RPG, but despite searching through a few soundtracks I haven't been able to find anything similar. I've linked it to a few people I know from here and we all seem to think it sounds like something from FFX, but no one knows what. So I put it to you, general public, to see if we're right or if we're all nuts.

Up until 1:10 it sounds completely unfamiliar to me. After that I guess if it reminds me of anything in the series, it'd be the FFX-2 version of Besaid Island and also Eternity memory of lightwaves, also from FFX-2.

It really doesn't sound like it's taken directly from FFX-2's soundtrack, especially not Memory of Lightwaves.

Perhaps it's not a direct sampling, but it sounds like melody taken from FFX's 'People of the North Pole' and 'Someday the Dream Will End'.

In either case, I like the track.

It reminds of something Nujabes has done, but I have no idea what.

I forgot to mention, it could highly likely also be something from the FF Piano Collections, which is what I initially thought it was. I just have no idea which one.

It definitely wouldn't be something from FFX-2, well, I mean it could be, but I wouldn't recognise it because I didn't play that game for longer than an hour because it was awful.

I didn't recognize it, or even the style. So I don't think its from any of the games I played through. But that leaves a massive world of gaming out there full of possibilities. I went ahead and checked the unreleased/unused tracks for FFX and unless I missed one, its not them

Doesn't remind me of anything. The image on that video is beautiful.

Yeah. Definitely the piano version of Mt. Gagazet. Listen here:

YouTube - Final Fantasy X (Piano Collections) - People Of The North Pole

It's very pretty, but I think this goes a little beyond sampling xD

I'm not 100% convinced, it's harder to tell because the tempo isn't the same.

I smurfing knew it was a rip of an FF Piano collection song, thank god for that, I'm not going mental. I always skipped over the People of the North Pole version because I always thought it came in at the start of the song, not a bit into it. Well spotted for sure.

Yeah, if you listen to the whole thing (or if like me, a burned CD with FF piano tracks was all you had to listen to during the ninth grade) it's unmistakable.
