Final Proposals + The Final Vote

Right right right right. Here we go ladies and gentlemen. This is your last look at your parties before the final vote. So judge wisely, the fate of EoFF is at stake. If you smurf this up I swear to God I will hunt you down and maim you with a carrot.

Before we begin, an apology: The Newbie Party hasn't submitted anything for this round. This is saddening. However, the show must go on, and I have waited past the deadline already.

The first point was about EoFF being B-O-R-I-N-G! Some people told me this. I was sad, because I try so hard to make the elections FUN FUN FUN FUN. FRIDAY FRIDAY, GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY. You know how it goes. But since I didn't know the answer, this is what our party leaders have come up with!

3. Boring EoFF

Now I've never had much of a problem finding things to do at EoFF, but for a superhero there is always a patrol that needs to be done, a bot that needs to be dismantled, a troll that needs to be sent back under the bridge from which he came*. Still, I do believe the most fun any hero or citizen can have in this great place is during forum events. They can bring us together, introduce us to new friends, and showcase our hidden talents (and super powers). Without events I daresay I would have hung up my tights years ago or perhaps never donned my cape in the first place.

So we need more events. And I'm not talking about the structured, everyone reads the rules twice and all goes according to a tired formula type events**. I'm talking about the crazy, innovative, nobody knows what's going to happen next events***. Of course, to have such memorable events requires hosts with a keen wit and flair for the dramatic. I daresay such individuals do exist here, most notably among the leadership of all the parties, not just the JLI. Also, the JLI's sister organization, The Events Committee is open to any aspiring hosts with ideas.

I feel that the best events are ones that bring the whole community together and allow us to interact. 'Type something up and pm it to the host and then people vote' type events are cool and all but too much happens behind the scenes and requires little participation from the members. What we need are more gender benders, gang wars and other forum-wide events that promote interaction more than winning or losing. Some ideas: Super hero wars, Final Fantasy character roleplay, post tag.

BORING EOFF

In case there were any misunderstandings.

Events, events. I love the word events. I like typing the word events, I like saying the word events aloud. Events, events, events, events, events, events. So, events: we can always use more events. Are there ever too many events? No, we are events-starved, surely. See a slow forum? It needs an event. See a lull in posting? Get an event in there stat.

I suggest novel events for people of all walks. Have we had a FF-THEMED BAKED GOODS contest yet? Monthly fanfiction WRITING COMPETITIONS are like crack pipes for yaoi fangirls. Best Halloween costume contest? Pumpkin carving co--I did that last year. I seriously think we can make up a million reasons to have competitions and events. Do you guys like Gunbound? Halo? The possibilities are endless.

The problem? Getting people to run them. Good organizers and committed leaders are in short supply, and a lot of people balk at throwing a little cash towards something, gasp, online. Dudes, I do not know about you, but I am (sadly) invested in the community here, and going a little out of the way to make the place snazzier is totally worth my while.

The next talking point was about Avatars! I'll be honest with you; I was hoping this would cause a storm like the threads always do. hee hee hee

This is not a debate. The average CPU in the average person's computer can handle processing a slightly larger image nowadays. Internet connections are much more powerful now than circa BoB's mind, and are you really expecting a person playing video games to be some sort of luddite who would not have decent bandwidth? Displays are also getting higher resolutions, and if a person is using 800x600 now, then I have a message for them: it is time to move on. Every year, add another pixel in both height and width for avatars. We are not cavemen or slowly turning back into them. Face the future.

So insidiously subtle, it is acceptable.


Because we will still be around by then.

4. Avatars

Typing up these answers took a long time so for this one I'm just going to copy the best post ever made regarding avatar size:

Oh, hi guys. Looks like nothing's changed around here.

Since we can all obviously agree that avatars are but a stain upon the already pitifully thin fabric of worth that makes up Internet message boards, and that, by increasing the potential size of these avatars, there is some deep implied commentary about the state of the modern man's literacy falling even further into exiguousness, I have taken it upon myself to resize many of existing avatars into a size that I think everyone can agree on:

I propose we adopt these avatars for a month. Then we all switch back to 60x60. They will look huge in comparison, assuming you didn't go blind straining to see everyone's avatar for the last month.

Lots of space so you can see this because IT IS IMPORTANT.
