The battle systems of FF10 and 13 were created by the same person? I guess kudos to him for creating something completely different.
Weren't those two games lauded as having fresh takes on the battle system? Oh lordy. Let's hope whoever did X2 is still around, otherwise we might see some nice traditional turn based returning.
Is this where we say S-E is a sinking ship or something? Perhaps if all of their old employees leave, there'll be a massive breath of fresh air in there. Still, losing a guy who designed battle systems is a bit of a bitch.

He is definitely their but as Type-0 Battle director for PSP. Of course, Type-0 and X-2 both have zero similarity to each other.Let's hope whoever did X2 is still around, otherwise we might see some nice traditional turn based returning.
Don't worry, we are talking about SQEX here, I am still amazed by the fact that Square Osaka (Nomura's team) have many designers and programmers from Konami's arcade teams (Gradius,TMNT Mutant Warriors,Batman Returns, Nemesis 2,etc). Also, SQEX still has designers such as Tanaka(LolIs this where we say S-E is a sinking ship or something? This is SQEX not Capcom or Namco.
So the one man who had any positive input into XIII has left? Thats a shame.
Oh noI was looking forward to what he'd craft for XIII-2. Ah well, I'm sure they'll figure it all out. So long as I don't see the word Junction I'll be fine.
Its a shame to see him leave cause I do enjoy the Front Mission series, but personally, I feel CTB and DATB were both sub-par battle systems so I certainly will not miss him for making FF based battle systems.

Actually, he's gone too. SE got rid of their music department, I think they are just going to contract out to people from now on.

Oh yeah, I remember. Uematsu, Shimomura, Hamauzu, and supposedly others have all gone down the freelance route. Oh well, as long as we still get their music...
They haven't had an in-house music team since 2009 apparently. It doesn't mean that Masashi Hamauzu can't be contracted to work on FFXIII-2 of course, but he's technically not part of the XIII team anymore since he's freelance now, and there is the possibility someone else may be hired to work on the music.
