Me and my kids have dragon eggs:
Get pinks, and then you can control which eggs are female and male.
qwerty, my preferred method is to get four eggs initially, fog one of them before it would hatch, then let the other three become hatchlings, then get three more eggs, maybe breed one, then unfog the other one.
OMG i got a paper egg for my daughter !

I think it's the easter eggs taht allowed me to get a cheese dragonI sacrificed a slot to move a bubble dragon (i hate them, so ugly. I'm going to abandon it if no one wants it here) and got lucky!

They spawn every 6-15 minutes. Just be a nerd and refresh the page every once and awhile.
