Kingdom Hearts Riddles IV

I remember these threads so fondly from when I used to be active, and I remember they were a lot of fun. So I looked through the board and found the old thread, but I thought that this time last year might be a bit too long for a thread to be revived. So, let's continue on where this thread's predecessor died a year ago.

I'll start us off ^^

In darkness I begin,
steps taken into an unknown world,
leading you on a quest for knowledge.

Unlocked with perseverance,
I'm a reward for your determination,
Enjoy the images that you have earned.

Faces blur by us,
as the shadows surround us,
the familiar has been left in the past.

A countdown of destiny,
a glimpse at your journey to come,
in darkness I will end.

What am I?

Hopefully it's easy, but not too easy >_o Have fun guys.

EDIT: for anyone new, or unfamiliar with the riddles threads, they are pretty self explanatory. Make a riddle in any format you wish, make sure it's kingdom hearts related, whoever answers correctly takes the next turn (unless they waive their turn), and try to give other people a shot to have a guess.

Roxas became when Sora got Shadowed and he woke up in a place he didn't know (Twilight Town).
The shadows (Nobodies) gather round Roxas and Sora needing the Keyblade's power.
I don't know about ending in darkness.

Not sure what your guess there was, but keep going at it. Hopefully it's not too obscure, if that's the case I'll start to give some clues, or maybe add another part to the riddle to make it a bit easier.

This (as in, the answer) was around before KHII was released.

Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness - so (SPOILER)Xehanort's Heartless who tells Sora he would not know anything at the beginning of the story, at the end of the first storyline part, who fuses with Riku to give him incredible power but is able to control his heart, et cetera.

This would be my guess.

Ok, I think this one dragged on a bit, and it'll be better if we get different people having a go. The answer was The Secret Ending from the first game (another side, another story).

Anyway, it's first come first serve for whoever wants to do the next riddle. ^^
