Seriously, what is this? A fan-made battle theme circulated as a hoax?

For the longest time I've been wondering what this song is. I thought I'd lost it but then I recently stumbled upon it in a CD of really old backups and such.

It was called something like "FFX - battle theme" when I downloaded it but is clearly an original track styled on the classic battle themes with some FF8 sound effects thrown in. I've got a MIDI of the full song that was included with an RPG Maker game (that doesn't have any extra info either) so has anybody on here got a clue? And if so, the rest of the song, preferably without the FF8 sound effects? Because I think it's a pretty awesome tune!

This very very very early demo of FFX has FFVIII placeholder music, so perhaps that music was originally composed for FFVIII and scrapped.

Haha, I have this burned to a CD, the first CD I ever burned for myself back in 2002 I think!
