Cinco de Mayo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

tbf I was drunk because it was the end of the semester and many of my friends are going back to Japan and Taiwan, so we had one last party.

My friends and I will be celebrating seis de mayo tonight, because I really want Mexican food, but going to a Mexican restaurant on May 5 is a cliché and it would probably be full of drunk white people anyway.

Cinco de Mayo is the Black History Month for Mexicans, crammed into one day, and celebrated by drinking ourselves stupid. It is how we envision Mexican culture, man. That aside, any holiday which excuses one to indulge in good food and drink is a great holiday. Green chile cheeseburgers and slush margaritas were had from the afternoon to the wee hours. Also, the weather was great, so chilling outside in lounge chairs just to talk was worthwhile.

That's the celebration. Mexicans don't actually celebrate it, it's an insignificant holiday.

Not around here. They are still partying at the Mexican restaurant down the street from my house.
