Pinkie Pie, not Derpy! D:
I could be Pinkie Pie if someone wanted to supply an awesome set. She is the closest thing to an avatar of chaos when Discord's not around, after all~

Bronies for the old show are almost non-existant.

They do exist, though.

Pretty much everything that video says.
I don't get this trout.
Oh, right. So do I count as a Brony or not? I'm confused now.
By the way, while I never took notice as the previous generations, I'm kind of greatful of their existance, as they lead up to FiM, if that makes sense.
I have a soft spot for earlier gens of MLP because I watched and enjoyed them (1st gen, anyway) when I was little. FiM is the best iteration of the show by far, but I still have a healthy respect for the earlier ones.
Let's turn that question around. Would someone who likes the older generations of MLP but not FiM be considered a brony?
(Completely hypothetical, of course. As far as I can tell, there are two types of people in the world: Those who like MLP:FiM, and those who haven't seen it yet.)
I've seen some pony forums that have been around for years and are mostly focused on toy collecting and some of the people there don't like FiM (mostly because they don't like the toy design). Most of them do not refer to themselves as bronies, because they see themselves as having been around "before" bronies.
That's probably because they never thought to refer to themselves as anything unique before FiM became big on the internet. If I was one of them, I'd insist that we were "true bronies," and that all the young whippersnappers mesmerized by the bright colors and flashy animation of the new generation are "neo-bronies."
It would be lulzy. The "neo-bronies" would be mad, and I doubt they'd be able to make a serious counter-argument that couldn't be shot down by, "We were collecting ponies before it was even cool." (This is assuming, of course, that the old generation collectors decided for some reason to go out of their way to try actively trolling bronies.)

I like this neo-bronies idea.
I've never seen the term used outside the context of FiM, but I'm not opposed a to broader reading of the term.
What sets it apart from earlier incarnations is the quality of the writing (which I rank up there with Avatar: The Last Airbender and Batman:TAS), which quite simply has a broader appeal. Hence the more diversified fanbase.
Discordantly: Discord's Story
A pretty awesome comic about Discord and Celestia. :O
